Corporal James Morita courageously served his country during World War II, and during his tour he was severely wounded in a barrage of enemy fire. He was awarded a Purple Heart, but the V.A. refused to award him full disability benefits. Public Counsel fought to ensure Corporal Morita received the benefits to which he was entitled.
Aaron served in Afghanistan and Iraq, and his last tour ended when his Humvee flipped in a firefight. He brought the fight back home with a serious back injury, hearing loss and emotional issues. The VA denied his disability claims, but Public Counsel helped him receive additional services.
Sgt. Lucas Gonzales fought in Afghanistan and lost his younger brother in combat. But his toughest battle awaited when he returned home and faced a legal problem obtaining veteran benefits.
