We’re thrilled to announce that four of Public Counsel’s nominees were honored with Legal Aid Association of California (LAAC) Awards of Merit at the State Bar of California Pathways to Justice Conference this week! Sabrena Whigham, President of the African Village Vendors Association, won in the Client category for her unwavering advocacy for street vendors in Leimert Park. Robins Kaplan LLP was recognized in the Pro Bono Firm category for its role in the Powers v. McDonough case, securing a landmark victory for disabled veterans.

Two Public Counsel nominees also received special awards: Vikki Padilla, Senior Paralegal with Public Counsel’s Consumer Rights & Economic Justice project, for her instrumental work expanding access to bankruptcy resources, and Robert Reynolds, for his invaluable leadership as a volunteer in the Powers v. McDonough class action lawsuit.

Thank you, LAAC, for championing the importance of legal services and recognizing the impressive contributions of these remarkable honorees!
