Housing Justice
Everyone deserves a safe place to call home, and affordable housing is a bedrock for building healthy, stable communities.
Throughout Los Angeles and across California, homelessness and a lack of affordable housing cause immeasurable suffering for people experiencing poverty. Decades of exclusionary and racist housing policies have historically prevented Black and Brown families from accessing the housing market. The vestiges of these policies, combined with persistent discrimination and racial economic injustice, continue to leave communities of color particularly vulnerable to eviction and homelessness. These crises are compounded by a dearth of affordable legal counsel for renters facing eviction, and the inability to secure services and benefits for those who need help to meet their basic needs.
