Public Counsel is proud to share that our President and Chief Executive Officer, Kathryn Eidmann, has been named a 2026 Leader of Influence in Nonprofit & Philanthropy by the Los Angeles Business Journal. This prestigious honor spotlights the important work of exceptionally impactful and inspirational nonprofit leaders across Los Angeles County who are ensuring the needs of Los Angeles’ diverse communities are being met and who are making a meaningful difference in the lives of Angelenos.
Under Kathryn’s leadership, Public Counsel has been on the frontlines of some of the most consequential civil rights fights of our time. From ensuring immigrant families across California have access to due process, their civil rights are protected, and they can stay together, to protecting tenants and workers when their rights are being violated, Kathryn has steered Public Counsel with purpose and courage in its relentless pursuit of justice.
Before becoming CEO, Kathryn spent over a decade at Public Counsel litigating major cases in education equity, children’s rights, gender discrimination, criminalization of poverty, immigrants’ rights, housing and homelessness, and the rights of low-wage workers. Most recently, she served as Public Counsel’s Vice President, Chief of Litigation and Legal Programs, where she oversaw a team of 120 attorneys, social workers, organizers, and administrative staff delivering direct legal services and engaging in impact litigation and policy advocacy.
