Diego Luna Stands with Immigrants on Jimmy Kimmel Live—and Shouts Out Public Counsel

“If you want to support those affected or who may need assistance, there are some great organizations doing exactly that—like Public Counsel and Kids in Need of Defense. I urge you to learn more about these organizations.” — Diego Luna, guest hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live on June 23, 2025.

We’re deeply grateful to Diego Luna for using his platform as guest host on Jimmy Kimmel Live to speak truth to power, uplift immigrant communities, and celebrate the vibrant, multicultural fabric of Los Angeles. In a heartfelt and powerful monologue, Luna reminded audiences across the country that Los Angeles is “a powerful example of what’s possible… when we put empathy first.”

During his remarks, Luna honored the immigrant families who have shaped Los Angeles—a city he called admirable “precisely because of the cultural exchange” made possible by people from different backgrounds coming together to build something remarkable. He also spoke about his own connection to the city and the communities that embraced him, sharing that the people who supported him when he felt homesick were often immigrants or the children of immigrants.

“People don’t leave their homes unless their survival depends on it,” he said, calling out the injustice of forcing families to live in fear while contributing so much to this country. He then urged viewers to take action: “Immigrants need to know that their struggle is yours as well.”

We’re honored by the shout-out to Public Counsel and our friends at Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), and we join Diego Luna in calling for dignity, compassion, and justice for immigrants everywhere.
