Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS)
Overview
Public Counsel’s Immigrants’ Rights Project represents abused or abandoned children eligible for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS). While many of our clients have recently fled to the United States, just as many are long-term residents of the United States who know no other home. Through SIJS, these children are able to secure a path to citizenship which fosters their safety and independence. We are recognized as national leaders on SIJS, and our staff authors widely-used SIJS training materials, provide training and technical assistance on SIJS nationwide, and engage in policy advocacy to benefit SIJS-eligible youth.
