Steven Godoy

Vice President‚ Chief Financial Officer

Steven Godoy is an accomplished finance professional with over a decade of experience in non-profit accounting and a deep commitment to ethical values and integrity. As a Los Angeles area native, Steven brings a unique perspective and understanding of the local community to his role as Vice President, Chief Financial Officer at Public Counsel. 

Prior to joining Public Counsel, Steven worked at Grobstein Teeple, LLP, where he specialized in providing CFO and Controller services, internal control assessments, and assurance services to private companies in various sectors, including nonprofit, education, retail, hospitality, and medical research. Steven also took on leadership roles within the firm, including leading the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee and serving on its Advisory Committee. Additionally, he worked at the Veterans Medical Research Foundation, where he provided financial management for a nonprofit with over 200 employees and an annual budget of $25 million.

Steven is drawn to the mission-driven nature of non-profit organizations and the critical role they play in creating positive change in our communities. He believes that financial integrity and accountability are essential to the success of change-driven organizations like Public Counsel, and is honored to provide the financial leadership needed to continue supporting its diverse, local community to its fullest potential. 

Steven holds a Master of Science in Accountancy with a specialization in Accounting Information Systems and a Bachelor in Business Administration with a major in Accounting and a minor in Psychology. As an undergrad, he participated in study abroad – traveling, studying, and volunteering in South Korea and Germany for an academic year. He is an active member of the Association of Latino Professionals For America (ALPFA), the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA), and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). He is an alumnus of Beta Alpha Psi (BAY), an international honors organization for finance and accounting students.
