Preventive Legal Advocacy
Overview

The Preventive Legal Advocacy team represents families who are being investigated by the Department of Children and Family Services, prioritizing cases involving allegations of domestic violence or where an informal change of physical custody is being considered. We believe that effective legal advocacy at the front door of the child welfare system can keep families together and keep children safe. By helping a family navigate an investigation and address upstream legal issues, we support families in crisis and reduce the need for intrusive interventions by the child protection system.
