Debt Collection Defense Clinic

Public Counsel offers help to individuals dealing with debt collection at our monthly in-person clinics, which alternate between the Vermont Square Library and the RL Stevenson Library. The clinics are held the first Friday of most months from from 1-4pm. Zoom appointments are also available at other times. Masks may be required for in-person appointments.

Our services include:

  • Responding to a debt collection lawsuit
  • Responding to discovery requests from a creditor
  • Claims of exemption for wage garnishment and bank levy
  • Counsel and advice

PLEASE NOTE: Our in-person clinics will have some availability for walk-ins, but we recommend you make an appointment.
