Debt Collection Defense Clinic

Public Counsel holds clinics to help individuals dealing with debt collection. In-person appointments (masks required) are available on the First Monday of the month at the Vermont Square Library from 1-4pm, and on the First Friday of the month at the RL Stevenson Library from 1-4pm. Zoom appointments also are available at other times.

Our services include:

Responding to a debt collection lawsuit
Responding to discovery requests from a creditor
Claims of exemption for wage garnishment and bank levy
Counsel and advice

PLEASE NOTE: Our in-person clinics will have some availability for walk-ins, but we recommend you make an appointment.
