Public Counsel’s Immigrants’ Rights Project Represents at Immigrant Day of Action in Sacramento

Public Counsel staff met with Assemblymember Isaac Bryan’s staff (left) and Senator Maria Elena Durazo during the Immigrant Day of Action in Sacramento last month.

Public Counsel’s Immigrants’ Rights Project proudly participated in the California Immigrant Policy Center’s Immigrant Day of Action 2024: “Our Diversity is Our Power” in Sacramento. Our team engaged with Senator Durazo’s office and Assemblymember Bryan’s office to advocate for immigrants’ increased access to healthcare and food assistance, and to keep state funding for immigrant legal services in California.

The event brought together approximately 500 attendees, making it the largest Immigrant Day of Action since 2020. Participants took part in nearly 100 legislative lobby visits and heard empowering speeches from community leaders, lawmakers, and impacted individuals, including keynote speaker Gueline Jozef of Haitian Bridge Alliance.

The day was a powerful demonstration of collective strength and a joyous celebration of our immigrant communities’ rich contributions to California. We thank our partners and sponsors for their generous support in making this event a success!
