Tracy Rice

Vice President , Chief Development Officer

As Vice President & Chief Development Officer for Public Counsel, Tracy continues her long history of passionate work for civil rights and social justice.  Prior to joining Public Counsel, Tracy served as Director of Development for the ACLU of Southern California, Director of Compliance at AEG, and Executive Director of the Legislative Black Caucus Foundation (LBCF).

Before her work with LBCF, Tracy served as Los Angeles Bureau Chief of the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, a position she enjoyed for seven years. Tracy holds a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Kansas and a Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School – Los Angeles.  Before joining Rainbow/PUSH, she was a staff attorney at the ACLU of Southern California for six years. There, she worked on a variety of civil rights cases, with a particular emphasis on criminal justice issues, including prison and jail conditions of confinement cases, police misconduct and death penalty appeals.

Long active in civil and human rights issues, she is a founding board member of Death Penalty Focus and serves on the board of directors for the Tom and Ethel Bradley Foundation.
