Public Counsel is thrilled to share an important update about one of our legal projects. The Audrey Irmas Project for Women and Girls’ Rights has been renamed the Audrey Irmas Gender Justice Project. This new name better reflects our expanded commitment to advocating for the rights of women, girls, and gender-expansive individuals.
The term “gender justice” has been defined as the “systematic fair treatment of people of all gender identities and gender expressions, resulting in equitable opportunities and outcomes for all.” This definition mirrors the mission of our project and aligns with Public Counsel’s mission to secure equal justice and opportunity for all.
We believe clients who find their culture reflected and recognized in the substance and the format of legal and social services are more likely to participate in and benefit from the experience. We hope that our new name will further our goal of practicing a culturally grounded, trauma-informed approach in our provision of legal services.
We are grateful to The Audrey Irmas Foundation for Social Justice for blessing this name change, and for their unwavering support of our work. Join us as we move forward under our new banner, more aligned and focused on the pursuit of gender justice.
